Memorial Health System’s 2016 Glow Fund Run
(October 18, 2016, Marietta, Ohio) –
On Saturday, October 15, the Memorial Health Foundation held their annual Fund Run to help raise money for service lines: stroke support, diabetes education and bariatric exercise programs. This year, the Glow Run themed 5k generated revenue of $8,608 through sponsorships and registration fees. There were a total of 367 registrants for the race.
The stroke support option directly funds the Bridges Forward program. It is a community-based exercise program designed exclusively for stroke or neurologically injured individuals who have been discharged from Memorial Health System’s outpatient rehabilitation services. Monies directed toward this fund continue the work done at the Marietta Family YMCA with stroke and neurologically injured individuals.
The diabetes education program is a patient centered experience that allows individuals with diabetes mellitus to have private or group education sessions to better understand and cope with their disease. Monies directed toward this fund continue to enable individuals in our community to have educational support at the diabetes education center, located on Hildreth Lane.
The bariatric program currently offers a personalized treatment plan designed to meet the specific needs of each individual. This program supports and provides advice that involves lifestyle, emotional and dietary counseling, exercise recommendations and a complete support system. The program also offers a variety of minimally invasive surgical options. Monies directed toward this fund are designated to helping overweight individuals engage in a specially designed exercise program.
Memorial Health System gives many thanks to all the participants and volunteers that made this event such a success.
