The Memorial Health System is sponsoring a Community Driver Safety Day event April 13 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Strecker Cancer Center Conference Room at Marietta Memorial Hospital. Co-sponsors include Peoples Insurance and East of Chicago Pizza.
The event falls during National Distracted Driving Awareness Month and is being coordinated by Driver Rehabilitation Specialist Rick Headley. The day will feature speakers from local law enforcement agencies, The Career Center Adult Technical Training Truck Driving Academy and testimonies from those who have been “victims” in driving errors as well as the expert advice of our driver rehab team. The day will include driver safety demonstrations featuring a mock crash scene with MedFlight flying in, a texting and driving demonstration and an 18 wheeler blind spot demonstration.
“ Our goal is to help people in our community be the safest driver they can be – no matter what the age,” says Rick Headley, Marietta Memorial Hospital’s certified driver rehabilitation specialist and Ohio licensed driving instructor, “All too often emergency services are called to accidents where people lose their lives or suffer a life changing injury. We want to reduce the likelihood that will happen.”
The event is free to the public and a free lunch will be served. Please RSVP by calling 740-525-7609.
