(July 20, 2016, Marietta, Ohio) - Over 160 volunteers who donate their time to helping patients, visitors and staff at Memorial Health System will be honored at a recognition dinner at the Lafayette Hotel, Thursday, August 4, 2016.
The 34th annual dinner serves as a means of thanking the active volunteers who donate their time and skills in performing important functions such as greeting patients and their families, escorting patients to various departments and parking assistance throughout the facility as needed.
Several volunteers reached milestones in the number of hours given during 2015. The following are the volunteers who will be honored:
Andy Francis, Dean Hoffart and Bob Schmitt will all be inducted into the 500 Hour Club as they donated over 500 hours in 2015. “Our volunteers are special people who make the experience better for patients and families,” said Cindy Hall, volunteer services/event coordinator for Memorial Health System. “The volunteers walk the extra mile to make a difference in our patients’ lives. They help in countless ways by comforting worried families to delivering flowers and reading materials to patients. Our volunteers are an essential extension of the Memorial Health System team. We are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize the volunteers for their commitment and dedication to our facility.”
During the past year, 163 volunteers have donated 21,297 hours of service. Besides their time, volunteers have raised and donated to several different programs including the Strecker Cancer Center, baby burp cloths and puddle pads for the hospital’s nursery and stuffed animals for both area hospitals.
