(November 8, 2016, Marietta, Ohio) – November is National Diabetes Month, and it is observed every year to bring attention to diabetes and its impact on millions of Americans, including those living in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Memorial Health System has become a vital resource for people with diabetes and pre-diabetes.
This year, the national team for National Diabetes Month is Managing Diabetes – It’s Not Easy, But It’s Worth It. The Diabetes Education Center of Memorial Health System and its team of board certified endocrinologists, certified diabetes educators, nurse educators and a registered dietitian help education patients about diabetes management every day. In fact, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) awarded an Education Recognition Certificate for a quality diabetes self-management education program to the Diabetes Education Center for the period of July 18, 2014 to July 18, 2018. The Diabetes Education Center received this recognition as the ADA believes that the program offers high quality education that is an essential component of diabetes management. The Education Recognition Certificate assures that educational programs meet the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education Programs.
In continuing the spirit of learning, the Diabetes Education Center is holding an educational event during National Diabetes Month. Diabetes Together will be held on Thursday, November 17 from 1 – 2 p.m. It will be held at the Belpre Conference Room at the Belpre Medical Campus. If you are interested in this event, please call (740) 568-1702 for more information.
