Employee Assistance Program

We're concerned about the situations our employees may be experiencing that could affect their lives, their health and safety, their families or their jobs.  Job stress, substance abuse, family or marital worries, financial or legal concerns, or any number of pressures can influence our well-being.

We also care about family members who may be experiencing similar difficulties.  So we have developed an EAP - Employee Assistance Program - to help employees and their families address these situations.

How Does the Program Work?
Our Employee Assistance Program attempts to assist individuals seeking help during difficult times.  Our objective is to reduce potential crisis situations and assist people in restoring their productive lives.
  • Individuals who seek assistance will be assured of confidentiality
  • The decision to seek assistance is the responsibility of the individual needing help and will not jeopardize job security.
  • If work standards are affected, a supervisory referral may occur.
  • In the case of a supervisory referral, the individual's health, safety and welfare is the goal.
  • Current personnel policies and procedures will remain in effect under this program.
What Services Are Available?
Counseling can be an essential factor in helping individuals deal with difficulties.  In cooperation with Memorial Health System a provider is available for counseling services.

This confidential service can be obtained directly by the individual seeking help; there is no need to go through anyone at the hospital for authorization.  Services available include individual counseling, marriage and pre-marital counseling, child and family counseling and substance abuse counseling.

How Do I Use the Program?
To make an appointment, call:

Counseling and Wellness Center
936 Market Street Parkersburg, WV  2610

In the event of a personal crisis, callers should call the crisis hotline at 740-373-8240.  If you are suicidal or fearful of harming others, please come to the Emergency Room at Memorial Health System.

Memorial Health System will pay for four visits per calendar year per employee and eligible family member.

Therapy sessions needed beyond the four free sessions per calendar year will be the financial responsibility of the employee, and may be submitted through the employee's health insurance - prior authorization may be needed.

Who is Eligible for These Services?
This benefit is available to Memorial Health System's employees, along with their spouses and dependent children.

Services are confidential - there is no need to go through anyone at MMH for authorization, but individuals must be able to identify themselves as MMH employees by presenting his/her hospital badge at first visit.  The family members need to present a copy of the badge the first visit.

Will My Job Security Be Affected?
No!  Participation will not jeopardize an employee's job security or promotional opportunities.  The nature of an employee's personal concerns will be handled in a confidential manner.

Our Employee Assistance Program is designed to address situations early and to ensure everyone's health and safety.  The program is beneficial to all, so we encourage you to take advantage of it.
