Azoospermia

May, 7th, 2024

, ,

A condition in which there is no sperm in the fluid, called semen, that the penis usually releases during orgasm.

Description

Azoospermia can be caused by a blockage in the tubes that the sperm move through. It also can be due to certain genetic conditions or hormone issues such as low levels of testosterone.

Overview

Azoospermia symptoms can include trouble starting a pregnancy, also called infertility. If low hormone levels are the cause, symptoms may include lower sexual desire or fewer erections. Some people may not notice any symptoms.

Symptoms

Azoospermia treatment depends on the cause. If the cause is a blockage, surgery or other procedures can find and collect sperm for use in fertility treatments. If the cause is low testosterone, hormone treatments may be prescribed.
