Gout is a complex form of arthritis caused by too much uric acid that crystallizes and is deposited in joints.
Overview
It causes severe pain, swelling, redness and tenderness in joints. It most often happens in the big toe. Attacks come suddenly and without warning, often at night.
Symptoms
Gout can be controlled with medicines to block or remove uric acid and changes to diet.
