Ringworm is a highly contagious fungal infection of the skin and scalp. Ringworm of the scalp is common in children. All ringworm is spread by skin-to-skin contact or by touching an infected animal or object.
Overview
It’s typically scaly and may be inflamed and itchy. On the scalp it may cause bald patches.
