Description

Viral hemorrhagic fevers are caused by viruses found naturally in animals or insects, usually in a specific area. These viruses spread by contact with infected animals, insects or people. Examples of viral hemorrhagic fevers include yellow fever, Ebola disease and Lassa fever.


Overview

Viral hemorrhagic fever symptoms differ based on the virus that causes it. Early signs can include fever, fatigue, dizziness, achiness, vomiting or diarrhea. Life-threatening symptoms can include shock, coma, or bleeding under the skin or from the mouth, eyes or ears.


Symptoms

Treatment for viral hemorrhagic fever may include medicines that prevent the virus from making copies in the body. Support to prevent dehydration and other complications may be crucial.
