Introducing Athens Medical Campus
The Athens Medical Campus is taking shape, featuring an advanced emergency department, physician offices, and outpatient services.
If you are in Athens, you may have seen all the activity at Memorial Health System’s construction site on Columbus Road. We hope you are as excited as we are about the progress!
In October, there was a lot of excitement as the first 204 modules arrived in Athens and the real assembly of our newest facility took shape. The building is being constructed by MODLOGIQ in New Holland, Pennsylvania, and will be the largest permanent healthcare facility in North America built using Smart Off-Site Construction. This form of construction enables us to work a little faster, the building itself was being completed elsewhere while the on-site foundation work in Athens was underway. It is also greener, allowing significantly higher levels of recycling.
The Athens Medical Campus will feature an emergency department (ED) with 13 rooms, physician offices, outpatient services, and future medical space. The ED will be the first service to open and will be fully equipped with technology and resources like CT scanning and ultrasound, as well as lab and X-ray services. Patients will be able to receive treatment for a range of emergency conditions including chest pain, stroke, trauma injuries, severe pain, broken bones, cuts, burns, and more. It will be Memorial Health System’s fifth emergency department and second freestanding emergency department, which enables access to an already robust network of primary and specialty services we have in the Athens community.

We can’t wait for patients to experience the new facility and the care we provide, enabling them to stay closer to home. It’s also good for the Athens community and will bring additional job opportunities for health care professionals in the county and region.”
