General Surgeon Emmett Lotton, MD Completes 1,000th Robotic-Assisted Surgeries
A decade ago, Memorial Health System (MHS) introduced the da Vinci robotic-assisted surgical system, enhancing our ability to perform minimally invasive procedures that lead to improved outcomes and faster recovery times for patients. On March 13th, 2025, General Surgeon Emmett Lotton, MD completed his 1,000th robotic-assisted surgery using da Vinci.
“It’s incredible to hit this milestone—1,000 robotic surgeries—all while delivering advanced care to the Mid-Ohio Valley. We’re just getting started. I’m excited for even more cases, tackling greater challenges, and seeing what’s possible with this advanced surgical technology right here at home.”
Robotic surgery has transformed the way surgical providers operate at Memorial Health System, becoming an integral part of care across multiple specialties, including oncology, general surgery, OBGYN, urology, and more.
The expansion of the da Vinci system to nearly every service line within Memorial Health System has been a game-changer for surgical patients. Our dedicated teams have embraced the challenge of refining their skills and expertise, delivering world-class, minimally invasive procedures that shorten hospital stays and help patients recover faster.
Dr. Lotton also sees patients for consultations and follow-up care at the Athens Medical Campus in the Department of Specialty Care. Soon, he will expand his expertise to Memorial Health System’s Athens Surgical Services, where he will also perform general surgery.
