Memorial Health to Host Annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet
Memorial Health System hosts its annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, at the Lafayette Hotel in Marietta. As a not-for-profit provider, Memorial Health System likes to recognize those who dedicate their free time to helping others—helping both our staff and our patients on a daily basis.
The 39th Annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet will recognize and celebrate our volunteers, who consistently demonstrate outstanding quality and quantity of work, customer service, dedication, and our mission. Several volunteers reached milestones in the number of hours given during 2020. The following are the volunteers who will be honored:
200 Hours: Kimberly Bollinger, Rita Burchett, Patricia Chambers, Amy Freed, Jack Hardman, Carl Hartley, Vella Lawrence, Marian McCall, and CJ Smith.
500 Hours: Ronald Chaves, Kent Hall, Janet Robinson, and Kevin Scheve.
1000 Hours: Amy Ferguson, Jenna Hearn, and Ron Hoffert.
2000 Hours: Bill Dunn and Jo Ellen Gray.
4000 Hours: Patty Schumacher.
Tom Powell (537 hours) and Terry Lawrence (523 hours) will be inducted into the 500 Hour Club, as they donated over 500 hours in 2020. Volunteers Marilyn Bookman, Herma Eddy, Jacie Hays, Jody Kohler, Jayne Stehle, Casi Stewart, Frances Tornes, and Jane Watson will be inducted into the 20+ Year Club for volunteering with us for 20 years or more.
2020/2021 Volunteer of the Month Recipients: August – Carol Marteney; September – Leo Farley; October – Marian McCall; November – Amy Ferguson; December – Vella Lawrence; January – Kirk McCall; February – Abby Merrow; March – Sandy George; April – Tom Powell; May – Kay Brammer; June – Debbie Chevalier; July – Elsie Bowens. The 2021 Volunteer of the Year will be announced at the Recognition Banquet.
90+ Club: The Recognition Banquet will also celebrate our volunteers who are 90 years old or older: Bob Boersma, Bill Dunn, Hilton Drake, and Jack Hardman.
During the past year, 173 volunteers have donated 16,098 hours of service. Besides their time, volunteers have donated to several different programs including baby burp cloths and puddle pads for the hospital’s nursery, heart pillows for our heart patients, and stuffed animals provided to the children when treated throughout Memorial Health System.
“Our volunteers are special and amazing people who make the difference for patients and families,” said Cindy Hall, volunteer services coordinator for Memorial Health System. Our theme this year is Volunteers – Sharing Kindness, Touching Lives. The volunteers walk the extra mile to make a difference in our patients’ lives. They help in numerous ways by greeting and escorting patients and their family members, delivering flowers, parking assistance, and behind the scenes in offices, medical records, and other areas of the system. We are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize the volunteers for their commitment and dedication to our system.”
