Memorial Health System Hosts 41st Annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet
Memorial Health System (MHS) hosted its 41st Annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet on August 24 at the Grand Pointe Conference Center in Vienna, West Virginia. As a not-for-profit health system, MHS likes to recognize those who purely dedicate their free time to help both our staff and patients daily.
During the past year, 183 volunteers have donated 24,355 hours of service. Besides their time, volunteers have donated to several different programs including baby burp cloths, puddle pads for the hospital’s nursery, heart pillows for our heart patients, and stuffed animals provided to the children when treated throughout Memorial Health System.
“Our volunteers are priceless! They are special and amazing people who make a difference for our patients and families,” said Cindy Hall, Volunteer Services Coordinator for Memorial Health System. Our theme this year is “Volunteers Make the Ordinary Extraordinary.” “Our volunteers make the ordinary extraordinary in the lives they touch. They go above and beyond to make an important difference in our patients’ lives. They are always appreciated for the important work they do. They are key to our success, and we are proud to celebrate them. They help in numerous ways by greeting and escorting patients and their family members, delivering flowers, delivering veteran flags to our veteran patients, and behind the scenes in offices, medical records, and other areas of the system. We are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize the volunteers for their commitment and dedication to our system.”
The banquet is held to recognize our volunteers who consistently demonstrate outstanding quality and quantity of work, customer service, dedication, and our mission. Several volunteers reached milestones in the number of hours given during 2022. The following are the volunteers who were honored:
- 7,000 Hours – Jayne Stehle
- 5,000 Hours – Herma Eddy
- 2,000 Hours – Joann Gerhart, Kent Hall, Diana Sams, Sarah Schafer, Jackie Walker
- 1,000 Hours – Martha Cornelius, Sandy George, Vella Lawrence, Wendy Lowe, Janet Robinson, Kevin Scheve, Doug Thompson
- 500 Hours – Bryan Berkemer, Marilyn Bookman, Jeffrey Bradford, Jack Heater, Janet Lamp, Marian McCall, Susan Shelton, Mark Wilmoth, Chris Wood
- 200 Hours – Linda Bunnell, Debra Chevalier, Betsy Ferrell, Cecelia Goff, Roseanne Gray, Donna Hasley, Dawna Hines, Bonnie Hutchins, Barbara Jackson, Charlotte Kitts, Becky Marks, Peggy Powell, Luke Williamson
Mark Wilmoth and Chris Wood will be inducted into the 500-Hour Club as they donated over 500 hours in 2022 and Kent Hall, Wendy Lowe, and Doug Thompson will be inducted into the 1,000-Hour Club as they donated over 1,000 hours in 2022. For the 20+ Year Club, the following seven volunteers will be inducted for volunteering their services for 20 years or more: Marilyn Bookman (26 Years), Herma Eddy (30 Years), Jacie Hays (22 Years), Jody Kohler (26 Years), Jayne Stehle (33 Years), Casi Stewart (27 Years), and Frances Tornes (41 Years).
