What Is an Orthopaedic Provider?

As an orthopaedic (ortho) provider, Dr. Gessel is trained in diagnosing and treating conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system. Specialty areas of orthopaedics include the spine, joints, hands, feet, sports medicine, and trauma surgery. Ortho providers focus on restoring the function of injured patients and getting them back to being active with surgical and/or nonsurgical options.

Education and Experience

Jason Gessel, DO is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon. He was born and raised in Parkersburg. He is a graduate of Parkersburg South High School. Dr. Gessel completed his internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Summa Western Reserve Hospital in Akron, Ohio. He attended medical school at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia after earning his undergraduate degree in Athletic Training from West Virginia Wesleyan College. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and a candidate member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics.
