What is a Urologist?
As a urologist, Dr. Wong focuses on surgical and medical diseases that affect male, female, and children’s urinary tracts. Management and treatments can include surgical and non-surgical interventions to treat conditions affecting the kidneys, adrenal glands, ureters, bladder, and other parts of the urinary tract. With the reproductive systems being closely linked to the urinary system, urologists also treat conditions affecting the reproductive organs.
Education and Experience
Dr. Wong received his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry in London, Ontario, Canada. He completed his residency and was chief resident in urology at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He then completed his fellowship in laparoscopy, endourology, and minimally invasive surgery at the University of Miami’s School of Medicine in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Wong was fellowship director and associate professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and medical director of the Center for Robotic Surgery at Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 2003-2011. In Cleveland, Ohio, he served as medical director for the Center for Robotic Surgery at Parma Community General Hospital, 2011-2015, and chief of urology at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center, 2011-2017. Dr. Wong was recognized as one of America’s Top Doctors 2008-2013 and Best Doctors in America, 2011-2012 edition. He has also been recognized as being in the top one percent in urology by US News and World Report, 2011-2013, as well as one of the best doctors in Cleveland in 2012, 2015-2017.
Dr. Wong’s current certifications include: Diplomate of the American Board of Urology, Inc., Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Fellow of the Endourological Society, Fellow of the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery.
